The Church of Our Lady

The Church of Our Lady is situated at the so called "Neumarkt", once a village square of a sorbian round village, which was situated outside the city of Dresden. Once, it was the emblem of Dreden with it's mighty cupola made of stone and with a "lamp" crested, 95 m high and created by G.Bähr. 1726 was the laying of the foundation stone. 1734 was the dedication. After the death of G. Bähr (1738), his pupil and his colleague, J.G. Schmidt, continued his work until it's completion in 1743. With the Church of Our Lady, Dresden held the most important protestant building of churches in germany. 1760 beard the cupola the cannonballs of Friedrich II. of Preußen. She also restits the bombs on february 13th 1945 in the second world war at first. On day later the completely burnt out building collapsed. The periode specified for the rebuilding of the Church of Our Lady was in 2005 finished.
